Match day eight of the 2023 Major League Soccer season did not disappoint.

The league’s best and brightest faced off, with a stunning edition of El Trafico and the Cascadia Cup. LAFC triumphed, while the Portland Timbers showed off their quality against their biggest rivals to produce some of the best goals.

Here are some of the greatest strikes you may have missed…

To kick off, we have Kerwin Vargas against the Colorado Rapids. Given the week’s action, it’s easy to forget his great goal, but we’re here to remind you.

With help inside the box, Vargas managed a composed strike to find the lower left corner and get the equalizer for Charlotte FC.

It was, indeed, vintage Vela. The Mexican figure showed up in El Trafico, scoring two goals of LAFC’s three. But the first, was a true Vela goal, curling the ball past Jonathan Klinsmann and into the net.

Time after time, Vela continues to show his worth in these matches.

The Canadian went all out against Atlanta United, scoring the much-needed equalizer for Toronto FC. Bob Bradley’s side hasn’t had the easiest start to the 2023 campaign, but Laryea’s goal eased the pain of being ninth on the Eastern Conference table.

LA Galaxy may not have won the game, but Tyler Boyd’s goal still deserves to be second place on this list. The player managed a rocket from a distance to beat LAFC goalkeeper John McCarthy and find the top right corner of the goal.

The galaxy fought hard, but LAFC triumphed 3-2 in the end to win their first El Clasico at Dignity Health Sports Park.

Of course, top of the list is Asprilla’s stunning goal against the Seattle Sounders. As if beating your rival 4-1 wasn’t enough, the player had to score in the most stunning fashion.

Despite the disappointing start to the season, the Portland Timbers continued to show their dominance over their Western Conference rival by securing all three points at home. The team now sits in eighth place of the table, with eight points in eight games and a record of 2W-4L-2D.
