Newcastle United are interested in signing Goncalo Ramos from Benfica in the summer transfer window, according to Football Transfers. The report has claimed that Newcastle have scouted the Portuguese market for players, and that Ramos is a player that the Magpies really like.
Ramos has a release clause worth €120 million in his contract at Benfica. The Portuguese club do tend to sell their best players every summer, but they could hold out for the Portugal international striker’s full release clause. It will be interesting to see if Newcastle are willing to pay it.
The Benfica no. 88 made 30 appearances in Liga Portugal for Benfica last season. The 22-year-old striker scored 19 goals and gave two assists in those games. In 2021-22, Ramos made 17 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the league for Benfica, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in those games. Newcastle will play in the UEFA Champions League next season after finishing in the top four of the Premier League table last campaign.
