Although this summer’s European Championships final will steal all of the headlines on Sunday night, we have a host of intriguing MLS matchups.

As the respective play-off chases in the Eastern and Western Conferences really start to heat up, there are 14 separate MLS showdowns throughout the early hours of Sunday.

With a stacked American schedule on the cards this weekend, we have taken a look at some of the most appealing betting markets that are available.

01:30 Houston Dynamo vs Minnesota

Eventually falling to what was an action-packed 3-2 loss away at Real Salt Lake last week, Houston will certainly be seeking an immediate response here. Nevertheless, suffering just a single defeat from any of their previous seven MLS appearances, Ben Olsen’s side have their sights set on securing another play-off ticket this season. Pencilled in as a standout contender here, the Dynamos will be excited by the prospect of making a return to home soil this weekend. Last seen at the Shell Energy Stadium picking up a 1-0 victory against Charlotte, Sunday’s hosts are unbeaten in all of their previous five MLS matchups in front of their own supporters. Likewise, landing a 2-1 victory when they last met Minnesota back on April 14th, the Texas-based outfit will be calling on a repeat performance on the early hours of Sunday.

Enduring what has quickly become a public MLS nightmare, Minnesota have rightfully come under a huge amount of scrutiny. Last seen earlier in the week falling to a 2-1 defeat away at LA Galaxy, the Loons have now lost all of their previous six consecutive MLS appearances. Opening July with a 3-1 drumming at home against Vancouver, Sunday’s guests have also continued to gain a reputation or their glaring defensive struggles. Tumbling down the Western Conference table and now facing a real uphill battle in the race to book a play-off ticket this season, Eric Ramsay’s side have shipped 16 goals on their six-match losing rut. Facing what should be another stern examination this weekend, it should also be highlighted that Minnesota have lost their last five battles away from Allianz Field by an aggregate score of 14-6.

Betting Tip: Houston Dynamo win & Over 1.5 goals @ 1/1 with Pribet

02:30 Colorado Rapids vs New York Red Bulls

Putting in another rampant performance earlier in the week as they stormed their way to a 4-1 victory against St. Louis, Colorado are in the midst of a real purple patch. Appearing to breezed their way to a play-off return this season, the Rapids have certainly made a string of improvements since opening up the 2024 campaign. Getting July underway with a 2-1 win against Sporting Kansas City, Chris Armas’ men have collected 15 points from their previous six MLS appearances. Making a major statement last month as they secured another 4-1 win against Montreal, Sunday’s hosts have also continued to shine with their success on home soil. In fact, Colorado have won all of their previous four consecutive MLS showdowns at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park by an aggregate score of 12-3.

Although New York might also sit firmly in the driving seat to claim their own respective play-off ticket this season, the Red Bulls do have the feel of a squad seeking some recent stability. Signing off June with a downbeat 2-2 stalemate at home against DC United, Sunday’s guests have now collected just a single victory from any of their previous six MLS appearances. Likewise, mustering just a sole victory on their travels since way back on April 7th, Sandro Schwarz’s men should also be concerned by their most recent showdown against a high-flying Colorado. Falling to what was a remarkable 5-4 loss when they welcomed the Rapids to New Jersey back in August 2022, the former Hertha Berlin boss should be bracing himself for another stern examination in the early hours of Sunday.
