Exclusive: Liverpool still have one eye on Edwards reunion ahead of Super Sunday clash

This coming Sunday Liverpool take on Man City in what has become the de facto best game over the last few years in the Premier League.

No quarter is generally asked or given by either side, who are expertly drilled by Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola respectively.

Whilst this game isn’t necessarily a title decider, it will certainly had one or other club the advantage heading into the last few games.

Fabrizio Romano is just one person that can’t contain his excitement.

“The match on Sunday against Man City will be a fantastic game, I’m sure. Two incredible managers, two incredible teams, many stars” he said to CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

“I think it will be an open game, could be a draw at the end, but Anfield will be pushing in a special way. I can’t wait for this one.”

Liverpool are pushing hard for Michael Edwards

The Reds will have full focus on trying to earn all three points, whilst still having one eye on trying to secure a deal to bring Michael Edwards back to the club as part of a huge reshuffle in the wake of Klopp’s departure announcement.

To date Edwards has resisted the overtures of his former employer, but as Romano also notes, both parties are still talking, and all the while that is happening, Liverpool will feel that they have a chance of concluding negotiations successfully.

Michael Edwards and Jurgen Klopp

“As I exclusively revealed, Liverpool want to give one final try to bring Michael Edwards back to the club” Romano added.

“March is a crucial month as FSG want a final answer as soon as possible. Conversations are ongoing and Liverpool are optimistic but it’s not done yet at this stage.

“In case Edwards accepts, I can also see Richard Hughes being part of the Liverpool new structure.”

If FSG are ultimately able to secured Edwards’ services again, they’ll be hopeful that he can replicate some of the successes of his time with Klopp during the glory years of winning the Champions League and Premier League.
