Arsenal youngster Mika Biereth is having a very impressive season out on loan, leading some Gunners supporters to wonder if he could have a role in Mikel Arteta’s first-team next season.

The 21-year-old forward started the season on loan at Motherwell, before being recalled by Arsenal in January and then going out on loan again, this time to Sturm Graz, where he’s continued to shine with some prolific stats in front of goal.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano provided some insight into the player’s situation ahead of what could be a key decision for the club to make this summer.

Biereth looks an exciting prospect for the future, but Romano is not sure if the Denmark Under-21 international is yet ready to make the step up to playing regularly in Arteta’s first XI, but it remains to be seen what Arsenal will decide to do next with the player when he returns from loan this summer.

What next for Mika Biereth at Arsenal?

Biereth looks like he has a bright future, but can he feature for Arsenal regularly next season?

“Mika Biereth – This young Arsenal striker is doing very well on loan this season, but it’s still early to say if he can feature in Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans,” Romano said. “I still believe he needs some regular game time to develop and grow; Arsenal will take these kinds of decisions in June, not now.”

Arsenal fans will no doubt hope Biereth can become the next top talent to rise up from their academy, following other young talents like Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson.

Still, there’s a lot of competition in this Arsenal squad now, with the north London giants showing a lot of ambition with their recent transfer spending, so it’s only going to become harder for youngsters like Biereth to make the breakthrough.
