Competition: MLS
Market: Minnesota United win
Odds: 1/1 @ BetUS
Looking to make a much-welcomed return to winning ways in the early hours of Sunday, Minnesota will welcome Austin to Allianz Field.
Starting with the hosts, while Minnesota might still be sat firmly in the driving seat to punch a play-off return this season, the Loons do have the feel of a squad seeking a recent boost. Last seen falling to what was an action-packed 5-3 defeat away at FC Dallas, Eric Ramsay’s men have now recorded just a single victory from any of their previous six consecutive MLS appearances. However, despite enduring their biggest wobble since opening up the 2024 campaign, the Saint Paul-based outfit will certainly be excited by the prospect of making a return to home soil here. Opening June with a routine 3-1 romp against Sporting KC, Minnesota have now collected 11 points from their previous five MLS battles at Allianz Field. Likewise, it should also be highlighted, Sunday’s hosts have suffered just a single defeat from any of their last 10 straight domestic appearances in front of their own supporters – a run that stems all the way back to February 14th.
As for the visitors, suffering last-gasp heartbreak at home against Los Angeles earlier in the week as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate at the Q2 Stadium, Austin have continued to struggle with their consistency since opening up the 2024 campaign. Getting June underway with a nightmare performance as they fell to a 5-1 drumming at the hands of Real Salt Lake, Los Verdes have come tumbling down the Western Conference standings. Signing off May with a 2-0 loss against Portland, Josh Wolff’s men have recorded just a single point from any of their previous four MLS appearances. Likewise, mustering just a single victory outside of Texas from any of their last nine attempts – a run that stems all the way back to February 11th – Austin should also be worried by their most recent meeting against the Loons. Falling to a 2-1 defeat when they last met Minnesota back on February 25th, we are expecting a similar outcome here.
