Michael Olise is likely to leave Crystal Palace this summer and Aston Villa have been described as “a dark horse” in the race for the winger with several Premier League clubs interested.
The Palace star is one of the most talented players in the English top flight and despite injury issues during the current campaign, the 22-year-old has managed to score 10 goals alongside five assists across 18 Premier League matches.
This has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs with Man United, Arsenal and Newcastle all linked to Olise in recent weeks and months.
The Manchester club are leading the race for the Crystal Palace man, reports ESPN, and plan to activate his £60m release clause this summer.
However, transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has described Aston Villa as “a dark horse” in the race for Olise but states that the Birmingham club will have to sell players first.
Aston Villa “dark horse” in race for Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs provided an update on Aston Villa’s interest in Olise and has said that Champions League football may help them win the race.
“Aston Villa could well be a dark horse to come in for Michael Olise. But Villa may have to sell before they can buy because they had a big spend in the last financial year,” the journalist said.
“Champions League football will help, but it comes with squad bonuses and the need for depth. It comes with costs as well as a windfall, so Villa may not just be able to drop £60million or £65million on Olise.
“It is an interesting one because there are a lot of clubs circling around Olise.”
