Kuleba briefed Szijjártó on the situation on the frontline and preparations for the second Peace Summit.
“In this context, I emphasized that no peace initiatives can be based on Russia’s narratives,” he noted.
The Ukrainian foreign minister stressed that the Russian strike on the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv once again demonstrated that appeasing Russian leader Vladimir Putin yields no results, as he pursues war, and “we must jointly make him to accept just and lasting peace.”
Kuleba pointed out that they also discussed further joint steps to develop bilateral relations, building on agreements reached during Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s recent visit to Kyiv.
Background:
- The EU started discussing punishing Hungary and the government of Viktor Orbán for their international activity and fake “mediation” to end the war in Ukraine.
- On 8 July, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained why Orbán cannot be an intermediary between Ukraine and Russia.
- After the trip to Moscow, Orbán explained how he had hidden these plans from Western allies.
