Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling, known for his memorable performances in films like The Notebook and La La Land, is all set to star in Barbie. However, amidst criticism that he is “too old to play Ken” in the new instalment, an older interview of the star is resurfacing.

In this conversation with Evening Standard Magazine back in June 2016, Gosling had shared his thoughts on gender and parenting. The star revealed that he believes women are stronger and more evolved than men.

The actor also revealed that he feels more in touch with his feminine side, stating that he would claim to be 49% woman and sometimes 47%, depending on the day. Gosling believes that women are especially impressive during their early stages of development, saying that his daughters are “leaps and bounds beyond boys immediately.”

Gosling, who has two daughters with partner Eva Mendes, spoke about how his upbringing by his mother and older sister has shaped his views on women. “I’ve always liked women more. I found my way into dance class,” he said. “My home life now is mostly women. They are better than us. They make me better.”

Interestingly, a Twitter user noted that the misogyny and ageist comments he was facing were due to him being “49% woman.”

With all that being said, the actor’s appreciation for women extends beyond just his personal life. He is set to star in the upcoming Barbie film, where he will play the role of Ken alongside Margot Robbie as Barbie. The film is expected to be a fresh take on the classic toy franchise, with a strong focus on diversity and inclusivity.

Gosling’s commitment to supporting women and girls has not gone unnoticed, and he has been hailed as a role model for his dedication to gender equality. With his successful career and positive influence, the actor continues to be a beloved figure in Hollywood and beyond.
