Mounting a stellar second-half comeback away at Brentford last weekend, Newcastle find themselves in the midst of what has quickly become a history-making campaign at St. James’ Park.
Eventually clinching a 2-1 victory in west London on Saturday afternoon, Eddie Howe’s high-flying squad now sit in pole position to claim a remarkable top-four finish this season.
Only continuing to gain a string of plaudits from across the Premier League, the Magpies have only gone from strength to strength since their Saudi-backed takeover was finally completed last year.
With the likes of Kieran Tripper and Alexander Isak immediately finding their feet since arriving in the north east, Newcastle have impressed with their eye-catching recruitment over the past 12 months.
Looking like they will upset the Premier League establishment and punch a famous Champions League ticket this season, it also appears that Howe’s side will once again splash their new-found cash this summer.
Ahead of what could be another blockbuster transfer window at St. James’ Park, we have taken a look at a few Premier League superstars who have been linked with a move to Newcastle ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Youri Tielemans – Leicester
Putting in another downbeat display last weekend as they were hit with a 1-0 loss at home against Bournemouth, it is no secret that Leicester find themselves in the midst of a real Premier League nightmare.
Parting ways with Brendan Rodgers last week and still firmly sat in the relegation zone, it looks almost certain that most of Leicester’s first-team stars will be heading for the King Power exit this summer.
While there might be growing speculation that James Maddison could be on his way out of the club, it has been all but confirmed that midfield talisman Youri Tielemans will finally be leaving the club on a free transfer.
Now in the final few months of his deal at the King Power and making it clear that he will not be signing an extension over the coming weeks, all parties have accepted that the 25-year-old will be on the move this summer.
However, although the Belgian international might have dealt with a string of injury issues this season, it has been reported that Tielemans could be set to extend his stay in the Premier League.
While the likes of Barcelona might have been keeping tabs on Tielemans’ situation, Football Insider suggested on Saturday that Newcastle are interested in snapping up the ex-Anderlecht starlet on a free transfer when his contract expires.
Wilfried Zaha – Crystal Palace
Although Newcastle might be weighing up the opportunity to snap up Tielemans on a free transfer this summer, the Leicester ace is not the only Premier League superstar who finds his current deal ticking away by the day.
While Wilfried Zaha might have cemented his place as a modern-day icon at Selhurst Park, it looks set that the Ivory Coast international will be ending his second stint at Crystal Palace when the window reopens.
Now in the final weeks of his current contract in south London, Zaha still remains at a real standoff in regards to an extension and neither party has made any progress over recent months.
With the Selhurst Park hierarchy now firmly planning for life without their attacking talisman, the one-time Manchester United forward is seeking a new adventure this summer.
However, while Zaha might have suffered another hamstring injury during Palace’s 2-1 win against Leicester when returning from the international break, Newcastle remain linked with a free swoop in 2023.
The Daily Star reported over the weekend that Howe’s side are currently leading the chase the snap up the 30-year-old on a free transfer this year.
Jarrod Bowen – West Ham
Although West Ham might have claimed a crucial 1-0 victory away at London rivals Fulham on Saturday afternoon, the Hammers are still battling it out in their own relegation scrap.
While David Moyes’ men might open their Europa Conference League quarter-final adventure in midweek with a first-leg trip to Genk, it is no secret that the one-time Manchester United boss faces growing scrutiny over his long-term future.
However, while West Ham might have shown some extended attacking issues on either side of the World Cup’s winter break, Jarrod Bowen has once again been a standout performer in east London.
Although the ex-Hull starlet might have bagged just a pair of Premier League strikes since back on October 9th, Bowen has plenty of top-flight admirers and has been linked with a potential move away from the capital this summer.
While Newcastle might have splashed £45million on Anthony Gordon during the January transfer window, talkSPORT reported last week that Howe is keen on launching a potential swoop for the West Ham ace this summer.
Despite being left heartbroken to have missed out on a spot in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad over the winter, many around St. James’ Park would be excited by a potential blockbuster move for Bowen in 2023.
